About downtherabbitholeroc.com

Our Story

The dream for a space filled with vintage charm and leafy greens wasn't born overnight—it was cultivated over decades. Growing up, I watched my mother meticulously decorate our houses, especially an 1870s Victorian house. I joined her on countless trips through antique stores and auction houses. I learned that the best pieces are the ones that speak to you, regardless of the era or style.

A pandemic, a layoff, and a houseplant addiction later, that dream finally started to take root. I began "digging in," filling a storage unit with treasures before I even had a floor plan. What followed seemed a season of absolute floundering. Between navigation of NY small business programs for the unemployed, and searching for a new spark of inspiration, we decided to buy a 3D printer to start making custom planters and tentatively named the venture "The Mad Planter". I wasn't sold on the name, but I felt connected to the Alice in Wonderland theme without question.

During a "brain reset" road trip, the signs were everywhere: a Cheshire Cat on a Nashville telephone pole, a framed dapper rabbit in an antique mall, and a destined discovery of a museum in Washington, D.C. riddled with Alice in Wonderland themed art and statues.

The universe was shouting, but I was still I struggling to connect with a name. Planters, 3D prints, and vintage decor, all sold together next to handmade art? Then it hit me: It’s nonsense. And that’s the point! Wonderland is defined by its beautiful, eclectic chaos. My ADHD brain is a rabbit hole, and my creative process is a journey down one after another. We rebranded on the spot.

We are Down the Rabbit Hole.  We’re here for the Rochester community, the neurodivergent dreamers, the vintage lovers, the plant parents, and anyone else who’s ever followed a weird idea just to see where it leads.
